Furukawa Electric was founded as a battery factory in 1914 in Amagasaki City in Hyogo Prefecture, and boasts over 100 years in operation. With numerous business locations both in Japan and overseas, we manufacture and sell storage batteries and power supply equipment.

Primary Products / Services

●Automotive: Demand for ISS lead storage batteries and auxiliary lead storage batteries for HEVs and EVs is growing along with a push for a post-carbon society.
●Industrial: We offer backup products for buildings and equipment for infrastructure (electricity, railways, communications, disaster prevention, government facilities, hospitals, schools, finance,
factories, office buildings, etc.).
●Recently, use of cycle-use lead batteries has expanded due to renewable energy and BCP (business continuity planning) measures.
●Lead storage batteries are seeing growing use in data centers.
●Our company has the largest share in the emergency battery market for products such as emergency lighting and broadcast systems.

Future Prospects & Areas of Interest

We have formulated a 2025 Mid-Term Management Plan, establishing, and working towards implementation of, four core policies as the foundation of our initiatives. In addition to promoting our global strategy, we will also focus on the following two points:
①ESS (Energy Storage System): We aim to expand our business field, from a standalone battery storage business to a solution business, by establishing a total system.
②Industrial-use Lithium Ion Batteries: Drones and robots are expected to be implemented to solve issues such as a declining domestic labor force. We will focus on introducing products that meet the demands for safety and reliability in line with the expanding use of our products in agriculture, inspection, and logistics (Level 4).
